How to recharge at home?

It has been a long day, week, month… you open the door of your home and all you see is even more things to do. The corridor is kind of dirty, you did not get to the laundry done last weekend, there is no fresh food to eat. It is all too familiar, life is busy.

Now imagine this – you are at a hotel on a vacation. You open the door to your room and you are welcomed by a beautiful bed in fresh crispy white sheets. All you might need is taken care of - there are big clean windows overlooking the mountain and a little tray of which you can choose whether you need tea or coffee. It is all too idyllic, I know.

What if I can tell you, you can have the same amount of comfort at your home? Because it is not about the place, it is about the energy of the place and energy is something you have control of, it is something you can change. In a way this is what Feng Shui is all about- allowing the good energy to flow through your home. Here are few simple steps you can follow:

Step 1 – Make space for it

In order for the energy to flow through you home it needs space so it can move freely. Imagine this process as part of your meditation – set a times and spend 5-10 minutes clearing some space at home. Just make sure you don’t stack things away in a different area, making a bigger mess there.

Step 2 – Clean out any negative energy

There are many different ways to do that. A very simple one you can easily apply it so open the doors and the windows to let the fresh air in and the old – out. You might want to dust out a little bit too – all that dust is old dead energy.

Step 3 – Create a positive flow

This is all about creating beauty and comfort around you. It also comes in different forms and shapes- it can be the smell of freshly baked goods or coffee, it can be the aroma of new flowers or a powerful hand-painted painting. It is all those little things full of life, that makes you smile every time you sense them.

I know it might sound as a lot of work instead of rest. You might have expected a list of – take a bath, watch your favourite movie, and light a candle. While all those are great, there is time and space for them. The truth is our brain cannot relax when it is constantly stimulated. The more stuff you have – the more visual stimuli for your brain at home. Even if you are one of those people who needs to see their stuff, I am sure from time to time you enjoy to visit that one friend who has it all organized or that minimalistic art café, because it just feels so nice. This does not mean you need to change all your habits or how your brain functions, that is nearly impossible. What you can do is manage the mess in a way that best serves you.

Make a game out of it and have fun during the process – you might listen to an audiobook, your favourite podcast or just listen to some really good music. Although it can be overwhelming at first, remember no one can eat an elephant in one bite.
